BEFORE YOU JOIN THIS GROUP you are to read and agree to the following terms and conditions. By being a part of this network you publicly acknowledge that you understand and completely agree to the following: 1. This is an online social network which meets periodically in person. This Meetup group is not a substitute for competent, professional climbing instruction from an American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) certified instructor. If you are looking for a qualified rock climbing instructor, please visit Fox Mountain Guides and Climbing School http://www.FoxMountainGuides.com. 2. What goes up, must come down. Falling is a part of climbing. Falling is considered by those participating in the sport of rock climbing to be an accepted risk. Sometimes a fall could leave you injured or dead. Again, the consequences of a fall, no matter how severe, are an accepted risk to the climber and belayer. If you get hurt during an event posted on this website, it is completely your responsibility. You are not to blame anyone else! BY JOINING THIS GROUP YOU ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR SAFETY, HEALTH, AND WELL-BEING WITH NO EXCEPTIONS. 3. The Organizer, Assistant Organizers, Members, and Sponsor of the Chicago Rock Climbing Meetup Group do not guarantee the competence of any individual. IF YOU DO NOT WHOLEHEARTEDLY AND COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, THEN YOU ARE ALTOGETHER DISCOURAGED FROM AND IN NO WAY INVITED TO JOIN THIS GROUP. Now that the heavy stuff is understood, we do encourage those who agree to the aforementioned terms and conditions, and who have a hint of courage, to join this group. It provides an excellent opportunity to learn an incredibly challenging, dangerous, and rewarding sport. This particular group is made up mainly of those with minimal experience. It is used as a way to meet new people and try new things within the sport of rock climbing. We learn together. Being in Chicago, most of our events take place indoors at manufactured climbing facilities. Our outdoor trips are usually to Devil's Lake in Wisconsin and Red River Gorge in Kentucky. (About 200 and 400 miles from Chicago respectively.) Most outdoor trips are lead by AMGA (http://www.amga.com) certified instructors. These trips usually require an investment of under $80 and include all the equipment you will need for rock climbing. Happy climbing!

This Meetup group is composed mainly of Ex-Jehovah's Witnesses who are at different stages of recovery from disfellowship/inactivity/disassociation with this religious organization.
Most of us have endured some level of hardship due to shunning from family and friends who are still active members in the religion. The purpose of the group is to be of support to each other, while fully respecting each others views, whatever they may be now. We believe that there is something to gain in coming together and sharing our experiences about life after the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Discrimination of any sort is not tolerated in the group. This is also not the place to try and "convert" ex-Witnesses to other religions or promote a personal business interest. At meetups, we may discuss our differences (and agree to disagree) but we never belittle other member's thoughts.
The vast majority of meetups are in public places around/near Chicago, usually for coffee or lunch. You will be able to locate our group by the generic Meetup sign on the table. If you wish to remain anonymous to the group members you may do so. If you have any questions regarding the group you can always contact the organizer directly.

Those support our humanitarian work with The Love Foundation, which supports disadvantaged men, women and children by giving them tools to succeed and create a new future by providing social and emotional competence, college readiness, workforce development, job placement and more. Hello, we are a group of women of all ages getting together for fellowship and friendship while learning the word of God. All women are welcome regardless of denomination. No previous Bible knowledge is required, just a desire to learn and grow spiritually. We will be reading Christian related books with an emphasis on scripture. We typically start out our meetings with a snack, and then we read a chapter from the book. There is no reading required beforehand, we read the chapters together and discuss them as a group. Hope you can join us!
Hello & Welcome
This may be a good group for YOU to join. It just may help you to decide whether you are in Hobby or Business. Do you know?
There are many opportunities out here with a low cost of entry. That is good news for one who wants to work home. BUT, when you don't invest much, the cost of quitting is very low, so you never know what you have given up if you quit at the first sign of disaster. So, hopefully we can help each other create a clear vision of what our end result is, set real goals for our activities, help each other to attain goals, and learn accountability to ourselves.
JOIN UP! CATCH FIRE! ACT ON FAITH..... AND THE FACTS WILL FOLLOW!

This is a group of people from the "region" who are interested in examining spiritual concepts without religious attachment. We are primarily interested in those spiritual practices or beliefs that promote holistic well-being. No matter what we call it... God, Spirit, Energy, Universal Intelligence, Higher Power - we believe that every person, place and thing emanates from this spiritual source.
The mission of our group is to provide a warm, supportive space to gather for those interested in delving further into the spiritual, conscious evolution of the human race, individual and world transformation, and the important role we each play in working together to realize our true purpose.
We embrace Wikipedia's definition of Spirituality... "Spirituality can refer to an ultimate or immaterial reality; an inner path enabling a person to discover the essence of their being; or the deepest values and meanings by which people live."
Included in our exploration will be energy healing modalities, as we believe these modalities to be deeply rooted in spirituality. Along with presentations we will highly encourage discussion and interaction!
We have created the group as a safe, tasteful place for people to come together to share spiritual experiences, to pass on spiritual wisdom, and to give and receive support. We want our members to feel very comfortable sharing, growing and learning together without feeling that there is a "catch or a "gimic" or that they will be solicited for business.

For $46 you get a 4-course meal -- think charcoal grilled greatness -- offering the best of seasonal freshness. We have made the arrangements, reserved the table and had our partners create an exclusive link
http://www.gdine.com/restaurant/profile/mk to the restaurant so that you can pre-pay for your meal using a third party site (tax + tip will be included). No money will be exchanged at the table. (reservations are fully refundable up to 3 hours before the event. When reserving, please write "Sip & Savor Club" in the notes section so they know to group us together.) We look forward to spending a warm summer night making new connections and experiencing new food in the presence of a few new friends. Of course, as always, this event is open to men and women, friends and colleagues. The goal is to create connections that extend beyond the internet. This is social networking 3.0! Hope to see you there! cc & Tri

We are a non-traditional Singles meetup group for people in their 30's through 50's.
Unlike other social groups or organizations, we "do not" charge any annual membership fees or dues! When we do charge minimal organizational fees, they are based on the individual event, and cover any out-of-pocket costs that we incur with the event and/or commitment fees that we pay to the venue in advance of the event.
If you've already tried internet dating and perhaps other meetup groups, here's a new opportunity for meeting new people. Even if you want to make new friends of the opposite sex, this group is the way to go! The goal is to bring unattached people together!
We strive to have non-intimidating, comfortable social events after work and on the weekends.
So,why spend the weekend sitting at home alone when you could be hanging out with a bunch of fun loving singles from the area?
Join us for our next meetup! We would love to meet you!

Are you tired of traveling across the state line to meet like minded positive professionals? Well, this group was created as an outlet for positive minded professionals, business owners, entrepreneurs, and aspiring entrepreneurs in Northwest Indiana to come together and network with other like minded individuals that reside in Northwest Indiana. The purpose of this group is to build networks with other positive minded professionals in Northwest Indiana. Our goal is to have events that are beneficial to everyone that attends. Our focus is on building both business and social relationships that will encourage and empower people to live their best life right now. Most events will be in the form of a business meeting with a special guest and some will be social events. Please be sure to bring plenty of business cards because everyone will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and give their 30 second commercial about their business or service.
Friendship ; it seems like such a simple thing. No judging or tearing down of character, no need to fix or change the other person. No whisper of jealousy or competition, not even a wink of dishonesty. A person to whom you can be sincere..with whom you never need to pretend.. to whom you never need to defend yourself.. on whom you can depend whether present or absent...with whom you can reveal your true self without fear of betrayal..Who does not feel she owns you because you are her friend..who will not selfishly use you because she has your confidence.... Do you have such a friend?? Better yet, are you such a Friend?? Lets face it; In order to have friends, you must first be one.....
This is an active group of Young African American women looking for true friendship. This is for Mature young women wanting to bond with other young black women. We do our best to make every young lady feel Welcomed and hoping the group will remain very ACTIVE and involved. Let us kill the stereo type that black women are angry, bitter, jealous, unhappy and drama filled. Chicago is such a big city, we can find so many things to do outside the club scene. We will do dinner, movies, plays, have rap sessions and whatever else we can think of. So, if you are a young black woman in her late 20's to Mid 30's and are SERIOUS about making lasting friendships, and are also SERIOUS about being very active with other young black women then this group is for you. You will certainly be welcomed!!
~No Show Policy: Please be advised we do have a 3 strike no show policy.~
This group has a simple theme, it's for couples who like meeting other couples for varied activities across the south west and western suburbs. If you are young, mid age, old, live together or married, it doesn't matter! "Couples" is about any twosomes who would like to join others for dinner, walking, biking and any social activities that we all share with light conversation and meeting and enjoying new friends.
Let's face it there are times when you enjoy doing things with other couples as well and sometimes that can be difficult. Whether your friends are single, married but can't get out, always working or it seems you can't just settle on a date with others. Indeed I know. Here I do all the work for you. From dinners to museums to street fairs, etc., we arrange it and all you have to do is select the events you will want to attend. You will get to meet other wonderful couples and enjoy the events as well. Together is open to all couples. Please, no swingers here. If this sounds like you, please join our group.
All couples are WELCOMED!
I created this meetup group in an attempt to connect with lesbians of Chicago who are not fully "out of the closet" so to speak. I want to create a support network for women who lead heterosexual lifestyles (i.e. married, divorced, separated, dating, single) but who are looking to open up and enjoy who they are with women in similar situations. I want us to have the opportunity to enjoy who we are and be comfortable in our own skin! Who wants to join me? :-)
Hello Everyone!!!!!! Im glad you searched and found this group.
I created this group because I realize the need to touch, be touched and connect physically, mentally, spiritually. Snuggling can be clothed, unclothed, some clothes. Everyone gets to pick there level of comfort. At this point I need to say that Everyones rights to snuggle naked will be of utmost importants. Women need not worry about a guy or woman forcing themselves upon you, nor do men have to worry about the opposite of the above statement. Nothing more than a "yes" agreement verbally stated, also everyone has the right to change there mind! for snuggling naked, if chemistry happens then thats great ;) too. The verbal "yes" is the green light, until a Stop or No, then that MUST be honored.
I would like co- organizers and group planning and any help anyone can offer. Ideas included.
Please feel free to give ideas, help, organize, etc.
I have spoke with many women and they say that " feeling touch deprived" is one of the worst feeling ever. I agree. We are members that will make this group great. So lets all "Just Do It" make this group a great one!
I am strait, Im not here to judge or be judged though. Love, Mike xoxo

Paddlers 4 Jesus was started in response to no Christian kayaking clubs in the Midwest and definitely none in the Chicago area. The purpose of the group is connect Christian people who love to kayak and most of all connects people who Love Jesus as their personal Savior. The group is for people who like whitewater kayaking, sea kayaking, and recreational kayaking. P4J is not connected with any one church or denomination, but uses the Bible and what Jesus would do; as the final authority as how we should live as Christians. This group is meant to encourage members through fellowship and prayer, and has the potential for outreach to people who do not know what Jesus did for them. Kayaking and Christian fellowship is a great way to meet new people and Worship God!

A few months ago, I finally made the decision to take control of my health and well-being, which included eating smarter and exercising more. Last fall, I began walking on Sunday mornings and discovered not only a greater appreciation for nature, but a much needed boost to my self-esteem and outlook on life. I even lost a few pounds, toned and strengthened my muscles, too. I feel so much better now and want to continue this journey with others that are willing to do the same. Nothing fancy, just a brisk walk along the trail on Sunday mornings, sharing our successes and our struggles as we take better care of ourselves. So put on a pair of comfortable walking shoes, grab a cup of coffee, don't forget your iPod and join me on Sunday morning!
Back in October 2011 I had my first child and became very uncomfortable with myself inside and outside after gaining over 40 pounds. So, if you're looking to lose weight or just get fit for the New Year, let's start the next 90 day challenge TOGETHER. Weight loss and living a healthier life is most successful when you have others to hold you accountable and teaming together for REAL RESULTS. Let's do it together!!

My name is Jayde. I decided to form the Duneland Divination Explorers Club as a way to meet and network with other folks who are also on a journey to make and better their connection with the spiritual world. I've been studying and doing Tarot readings for myself and others for over 12 years.
We'll be using tools such as Tarot, scrying, astrology and more. We'll discuss the history, meanings and uses of tools and methods that help us develop and enhance our spiritual selves. I even have an affordable and really cool set of directions on how to make your own scrying mirror!
Who should join? People who are open-minded, non-judgemental and well-intentioned. Who should not? Fearful folks who think that exploring the occult is somehow evil or malicious. All religions and belief systems are welcomed as long as you participate in the spirit of openness and kindness.

This will be a place to share experience, ideas and resources (be it sharing seeds or getting together to buy supplies in bulk). A garden can be a single plant, just enough to make a salad once a week or enough to feed a whole family the whole summer. This Meetup group is for members of the Chaturanga Holistic Fitness Community who want to connect for fun activities outside of their weekly yoga, Pilates, or dance classes.
Chaturanga Holistic Fitness is an interdisciplinary fitness studio located in the heart of Hyde Park. Our name Chaturanga is Sanskrit and literally translates as "four limbs" or "four divisions". The name reflects our four main areas of instruction: yoga, pilates, dance, and meditation. Among these four pursuits, we continually deepen our awareness, perhaps encounter new and different parts of ourselves, increase our mind-body-spirit literacy – we cultivate a smart bodyand fit mind.
Chaturanga is a space to connect to the ancient practice of yoga, develop core strength through pilates instruction, deepen awareness through meditation, and joyfully express yourself in dance. Our beautiful and warm studio setting is complemented by some of Chicago's finest yoga, pilates and dance instructors.

This Meet Up group will promote workshops, retreats and practice of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) as taught by Marshall Rosenberg, Ph D. We will promote events led by Certified Trainers of NVC and candidates in the certification program of the Center for Nonviolent Communication. In addition, we will consider requests from others with NVC training as well.
Nonviolent Communication (NVC), a model developed by Marshall Rosenberg in the late 1960s. Dr. Rosenberg was motivated to help people connect with their own humanity and that of others respectfully, compassionately, peacefully and with joy. NVC offers a practical and unique model to empower and transform relationships. It is inspirational in its invitation to cherish the needs of others as our own. We predict it will offer challenge and satisfaction to all who wish to embrace life more fully.
Ego Transcendence is for anybody who believes that his or her life is burdened by a false self, an "I", an ego, and is willing to participate in a long-term social-spiritual experiment that strives to replace our egotistical awareness for the pure awareness of natural being, or however you have come to call it in your own understanding.
Ego Transcendence is roughly based on the work of the psychoanalyst Trigant Burrow as well as the various insights of spiritual individuals all over the world who have begun to grasp and teach of things like the nature of the restless mind, the illusion of separation etc.
Mooji once said in a youtube video, "what you can do, is find out what "I" is...don't just leave it to roam about". In Ego Transcendence we get together as a group and each individual has the role of scutinising his own "I" as well as the "I" of others in social interaction. By maintaining this constant exchange and challenging of perspectives amongst each other, we will strive to bring forth the relative and flux-like nature of the interpersonal world as a conscious, living social experience, and gradually dissolve away the absolutistic or dictatorial perspectives of each individual "I".
The basic idea is that the ego operates by deception; its fundamental purpose is to maintain a false social image that is what it feels the individual should be rather than what the individual actually is. But by meeting regularly with a group of people who mutually agree not to be decieved by the ego and its workings to the best of their ability, this can over time greatly restrict the activity of the ego, and possibly eliminate it.

The goal is to get up enough producers where we can get together and showcase beats!! This is a chance for us to network, share idea's and techniques, and get honest critiques about our craft so we can grow! Remember the Beat Society in Philly? A lot of producers who participated in that went on to do very big things! Well this can be a similar version for Chicago Producers! I wanted to start small and use that as our model for building something similiiar in Chicago. Let's stop hoarding those beats on our computers and play them like they were meant to be heard!
We are a group of new moms looking to make mommy friends in the Oak Lawn area. Most of us started our families in 2010 and are first-time moms.
Our goal is to build a local network of moms so we can plan social activities for our children, our families and ourselves.
The age range of the children in our group is newborn to 2 years. We are looking to meet other moms with children in this same age range.
If you are a new mom in Oak Lawn (or within a five mile radius of Oak Lawn), and are looking to make new friends, this could be the Meetup Group for you!
A couple of notes about our group:
Members and potential members should have a completed Meetup profile with a photo. Your photo can be of you, or you plus your child, family, etc. The purpose of the photo is so other group members can recognize you at events held in public settings. It also protects the safety of our group and our children.
Members should be active. To be considered an active member of our group, members should attend at least one Meetup a month. Members who are inactive for more than 30 days are subject to removal. This is not only so we have a thriving group with active participants, but also for the safety of our group.
Please click "join us" and fill out the profile questions if you are interested in being part of this Meetup group. A group organizer will contact you with the date(s) for our next new member event. Potential members must attend a new member event before officially joining the group. New member events are held quarterly and provide an opportunity for pending members to meet the group organizers and other group members before joining the group.
PLEASE NOTE: We like to keep the group small in size so it is easy to get to know each other and to build relationships. That said, we are currently closed to new members. If/when members leave our group, we will review our pending member list to add new members. Thank you!
Annual membership dues: $10. Membership dues will go toward the monthly fee for the group's Meetup website. Leftover funds will be used for supplies for special events.
Thank you for your interest in our group! Hope to meet up soon!

The purpose of this group is to get healthy within a goup setting. You know, pals. You don't have to do all the information hunting on your own, or go through a process by yourself. I have products that I use and sell alone in the Chicago areaand if any interested party wanted to also make money while learning to 1. rebuild the body at the cellular level, 2. detox the body in the same way, 3. learn to use essential oils and alternative skin and household products (and did I mention chocolate?), then that would be fine with me. But the main thing is...LETS GET HEALTHY...age gracefully and feel good. Let's do it with nutritionally COMPLETE products. You are welcome to go to the files section and see the information which has been added so far. There is so much to learn.
I'm looking to start a book group for mature individuals 40+ to read monthly, socialize, and eat. This group is open to men and women. Does it seem like one day runs right into the next and you never get around to doing the things you used to for your own self-care? Your a great mom but something has to give, right? It's time to carve out a little "Me Time" and remember or learn how to take really good care of you - mind, body and soul.
If you'd like to reclaim that part of you that brings out the girl in you, glam it out with us. Or maybe just find your inner peace with other moms who know exactly what you're going through. Let the pampering begin and you don't have to plan a thing. Just bring you and your me time.
Busy friends also welcomed to our events.

My friends and I have been playing Axis and Allies for years now. We have grown tired of the same old alliances and strategies. So, we have created a revised rules version of A&A use the 1940's Europe and Pacific maps. The major changes are that we have now started the game with no alliances of any kind. Players are encouraged to forge their own alliances, and to break them. Any diplomatic resolution you can think of can be used in this game. The way a turn works has also been changed. We essentially have all players go at the same time, including all combat moves, free moves and placement/development. To determine a winner, we have created objectives to be accomplished both major and minor, one of each need to win. Examples are to take Europe is a Major, and Control the Mediterranean Coast is a minor. Also, instead of starting the game with set unit types that go in the same places. each play starts with 9 infantry, one destroy and one transport and 100 IPC's to purchase and place in any territory they own depending on their Objectives. What we are looking for are players that want to help test the rules and the help revise them even more to help create the best game possible. The revised rules can be email so that every player can be familiar with the rules prior to play.

What happens when you personally select a group of women who . . .
* Own their own business
* Have a strong entrepreneurial spirit
* Are willing to support others
Results. Support. Teamwork. Growth.
The Women's Networking Alliance was formed to bring a group of small business owners together to help each other promote, grow and expand their businesses and we're expanding nationally in 2010.
Founded in 2007, The Women's Networking Alliance was created to enable a networking of women business owners that can truly and genuinely help one another. Formed in small groups of no more than 30 businesswomen, each chapter is designed to ensure strong partnerships in an intimate setting.
What makes WNA successful? Several qualities.
First, the individual person and how they present their business, support their fellow members and participate is critical. Members must attend the meetings, should provide the right marketing tools and education so the other members understand how to speak to their products, programs or services and lastly, should look for opportunities for each other.
Second, a desire to share ideas in all facets of our business, a willingness to speak to wins/losses and the courage to speak up when you are struggling will allow the entire group to easily grow together personally and professionally.
Lastly, having an extreme level of honesty, integrity and trust is absolutely required. We are sharing a lot of personal information amongst the group and we must feel we can trust that our "sharing" is kept confidential and not shared with anyone, especially in the form of gossip.
A few specifics:
Chapter sizes are not to exceed 30 members. This ensures an intimate setting and a meeting size/length that is manageable and meaningful.
Members must own their own business, no multi-level marketing - we want women who have or are building their business from the ground up.
Chapters are required to do a minimum of one community service project a year. We believe in giving back.
Annual dues for WNA are $150 for members and $100 for board members. WNA accepts checks, cash and Paypal. You can sign up here: http://womensnetworkingalliance.com/WelcomeNewMember.html
One of the main purposes of this group is to network with people that will support your product and services. In addition to using your fellow members product/service, we work very hard to generate leads and referrals that will hopefully turn into income for you. The success of this group is dependent on your support including identification of potential opportunities for each member. There are, however, no minimum requirements for leads/referrals.
As a member, you are encouraged to bring materials that will help your fellow team members successfully speak to your product/service. This may include samples, brochures, business cards, etc. A file for marketing materials including business cards is brought to each meeting. Make sure your section is full at all times!
WNA supports a "non competing" structure meaning that new members must not be a competitor or in a matching business (within the chapter) as an existing member without approval by the chapter president and competitor.
WNA is about forming sincere and genuine partnerships in an environment which is comfortable and "real". If you're interested in applying for member, we recommend you check your area to see if there is a chapter formed and if there is a competing business in that chapter.

We are not seeking solicitors to market their product or service to our members.
Do You is about helping you to find your calling, passion or vocation. In other words what do you want to do with your life??
Your vocation, call, or calling is that which the Creator sent you to the planet to do. It is your purpose in life—your gift to the world. If you choose your calling you will find a job that you love and as the saying goes, "Find a job that you love and you will never have to work a day in your life."
The people who choose a career instead of their calling usually wake up each morning regretting that they have to go to work, hitting the snooze on the alarm clock over and over again. They hate to face another day. They take sick days, not because they are sick, but just because they hate their job—the work, the people, everything. Yet, if you find your calling and choose to pursue it, it will inspire you to get out of bed. Each day will be an adventure—an exploration as you eagerly look for what the Creator will present to you. You will feel alive and present in the world.

I love the above definition because it's all about Do You.

COME LEARN TO BLUES DANCE! *What is Blues Dancing You Say?* Blues is a fun, easy to learn dance that is most often danced with a partner. It is awesome for Blues music--but is also great for many other styles: Pop, Rock, Jazz, Reggae, Funk, Soul, and R&B. While Blues dancing has existed for as long as Blues music, it is experiencing a resurgence in popularity and is still new to many people in Northwest Indiana. *Why should you learn Blues dancing?* If you are new to partner dancing, basic Blues steps are simple to learn and can be used right away in almost any social dance situation. You will be dancing after your first lesson! Plus, it is something fun and different to do, it is good exercise, and you will meet new people and make new friends. If you have done other styles of partner dancing, Blues can be quite a departure (in a good way!). You will improve your leading and following skills in all dances. You will also learn to let the music drive your dancing instead of just doing a bunch of steps. Learn to improvise, connect with the music, connect with your partner, and deepen your appreciation of what partner dancing can be! Come check us out and see how fun and easy it is to learn Blues. No dance experience is necessary and you don't need a dance partner. Adults of all ages are welcome. We have 2 hour meetings twice a month where we do a beginner lesson followed by an hour of practice. Upcoming Meetings: Sundays: November 20th, December 4th, December 18th Time: 2pm-4pm Location: South Shore Centre for the Arts 665 S. Lake St., Miller Beach (Gary), IN 46403 Cost: First time FREE, $5 dues for subsequent meetings

Do You Want To Prosper By Sharing Your Talents And Passions With The World?"
We know how frustrating it can be, wanting to launch a business but being overwhelmed and not being able to decide how to start a website quickly and cheaply so that you can modify it anytime and so that it brings more sales. That's why we work with you from start to finish and make the whole process easy and fun.
The NuChurch Unplugged is a prayer group for believers interested in developing and strengthening their prayer life, and non-believers needing an intercessor. This group gives us the ability to join others who share a common love for God and our savior Jesus Christ.
The NuChurch Unplugged members believe prayer is the resource God has given us to communicate and build a relationship with Him. We use the word of God, The Bible, in all our prayers and as a resource for study and discussion.
We meet every Wednesday evening for prayer and fellowship. We'd love to have you join us.
Don't forget to RSVP!
I am fed up with not only the national but also the local government in Chicago. The parking situation downtown, deals being made with closed doors......citizens should get a vote on these things b/c we cannot trust our politicians to make the right decisions for us. We need to form a group to show our strength and be present for all kind of Chicago subjects like:
Citizens being on the hook or tax overruns for the Olympics....we need to be picketing this and demonstrating for this immediately! We should not be signing this document.
Mark Kirk voting for Cap & Trade: he needs to know that citizens are not happy about him signing this bill. He is not fit for the U. S. Senate if he feels everyone needs a huge tax hike.
Quinn trying to raise taxes: people need to protest against all the taxes...regardless of social programs needed. Who is going to speak loudly for the taxpayers. The special interest groups are always whining about losing their funding...what about us?
Court Decisions (cop who gets probation for beating girl--judge should be prosecuted)
Parental responsibility for violence between kids in shootings . If there is to be a march it should be for parental responsibility---not more money for more social programs that cost taxpayer and do NOT work!
Please find and friend me on Facebook so I can add you to a secret group for discussion purposes. I've not been able to really figure out how to make this website actually work for our needs.
This group is for fellow moms, and dads, who are what we like to call "crunchy" What is crunchy you ask? Well basically, if you practice one of the following, you are on your way to the snap, crackle, CRUNCH:
Extended breastfeeding (beyond a year)
Cloth diapers
Homeschooling
Drug-free births
Baby wearing
Co-sleeping
Home birthing
Non circing
Non vaxing
Oganic feeding
Atachment parenting
Etc.
The more of these that you believe in, the more crunchy you are! I would like to get fellow crunchy parents together to discuss certain issues and to meet outside of meetup for playdates and whatnot. Its always good to have friends who share your personal views =)
I currently have 2 clubs that meet at least once a month to create some handmade cards and paper projects. It's a nice getaway that won't cost you much but will relax you and make you smile. I would love for you to joins me! I am located in Chicago west of Midway Airport.
This year, we're focusing on the ACLU of Illinois work defending the targets of injustice and intolerance. Throughout the year, we'll be bringing you information about how you can join the ACLU in fighting those who would write injustice and discrimination against targeted groups of Americans into our laws.
We want to look at and explore the effects of Gangsters, G-men and Gun Molls during the 1920's and 1930's. These two decades took decadence to a new level. It was a perfect storm of demon alcohol being banned, corrupt government officials, and a public that was thirsty to first have fun in the 20's Jazz age and then escape the misery of the Great Depression. These two decades changed everything about Chicago and the US. Anybody who has an interest in the era, or a relative who stirred bathtub gin or who was one of the good guys with a star or badge, join up. If you are a professor or teacher with an interest or course that can shed some light, join. If you want to get out in walk in the footsteps of Al Capone or Eliot Ness, join. Bring your pictures, slides, books or old newspaper clippings. Gangsters, G-men and Gun Molls can be fun and educational!
Looking for people who are familiar or acquainted with the work of Trigant Burrow and the Lifwynn Foundation, and would be willing to get together to explore social conflict and trust through the process of group analysis originally developed by Burrow.
Those unfamiliar with Burrow's work but interested in social experiments that address ego conflict can read through the essays on the Lifwynn website www.lifwynnfoundation.org.
Bringing people of like minds together to share their knowledge and ideas about the metaphysical world. Topics will include, but are not limited to, astrology, tarot, meditation, face reading, spirituality, new age, self development, self esteem, etc. I started this group because there are very few places one can go in the Southwest Subs of Chicago to discuss these topics. I have been studying metaphysics since childhood, learning, sharing and teaching for many years. The purpose of this group is for people come to learn and also to share their own experiences and information.
Spirit of Wisdom Community was founded in August 2011 on Chicago's south side in the Beverly/Morgan Park area, and is part of the Monasteries of the Heart movement, an outreach of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, Pennsylvania.
Spirit of Wisdom is rooted in the Benedictine spiritual tradition; is interdenominational, and its primary mission is the cultivation, teaching, and practice of Benedictine values and priorities.
It is a non-resident contemporary community for individuals called to live a deeply God-centered way of life in the heart of the city. The founder and pastoral leader, Rev Fred Mason, oversees the new urban monastery. Rev Fred also facilitates a spiritual formation program, and provides individual spiritual guidance.

I've started this group in hopes of encouraging others to join me in my fundraising efforts to benefit Warriors.
The initiative I started, forasoldier.org supports both the Wounded Warrior Project (a non-profit organization that helps wounded warriors of our armed forces get back on their feet) AND anysoldier.com (a 110% volunteer group that connects members of the armed forces with the public who want to send them care packages).
Our first fundraising effort: Project 1 has already raised over $1,800 at the Kick-Off event on Veteran's Day 11.11.11!! For our second benefit, we thought a great idea to raise money and awareness while getting fit, would be to organize a 100-mile, 5 day walk.
The planned Centurion Warrior Walk will take place between: May 15th-May19th culminating into a celebration event and fundraiser on the evening of Saturday, May 19th! the walk path has yet to be dtermined and more details will be available as we get closer to the event.
May 15th-Walk 25 miles (6am-4pm with a 1 hour lunch and two 30-minute breaks)
May 16th-Walk 25 miles (6am-4pm with a 1 hour lunch and two 30-minute breaks)
May 17th-Walk 20 miles (7am-4pm with a 1 hour lunch and two 30-minute breaks)
May 18th-Walk 20 miles (7am-4pm with a 1 hour lunch and two 30-minute breaks)
May 19th-Walk 10 miles (8am-12pm-lunch immediately following end of walk)
Evening event will start May 19th at 7pm.
The plan is to stay at hotels in between walk days. Walkers will have to find sponsors or raise money to pay for their expenses (food/lodging, etc.) on walk days and must get written permission from their doctor's that they are physically fit for the challenge and sign a waiver of liability.
We hope to raise $10,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project and hope to send out 10 care packages to units in Afghanistan.
If anyone would like to join me in training andfor part of (or ALL of) the walk, please let me know...I could use the company. I'll post times/places for training walks on the calendar and invite anyone who wants to support our guardians to join. For more information, check out: www.forasoldier.org
THANKS!!
Looking for Golden Retriever owners to periodically meet with my Golden for a "dog play mate". My Golden is adorable, lots of fun, but needs someone to play with! Preferably South Loop, Downtown, North or Hyde Park locations.
Now that Sen. Santorum has announced his candidacy for President, I begin this group to gather other Santorum supporters for mutual support, for passing along information, and for eventually connecting with the official national campaign and work with it to get Sen. Santorum on the Indiana primary ballot, then to promote and support his campaign. I initially plan this group for Lake and Porter counties and surrounding areas, but as we grow, will be open to county or zone splits if needed.
I started this group because I couldnt find any groups in Chicago in the city that I could join with my child who has autism. This group is for moms that have children with autism, we can build friendships and help each other out with any information that we may have. All moms who have a child or children with autism or aspergers should join.
As a stay-at-home dad (with a 1 year old) who is new the suburbs I wanted to start a group to meet other parents and kids in the neighborhood. I'd love to plan fun outings to the park, the library, the pool, etc. as well as casual play dates at home. I'm excited to meet other parents who are going a little stir crazy staying at home all day.
This is a group for Men and Women who have had an unexpected foundation shaking interruption in their lives. The thought of divorce puts a hole in your stomach and keeps you awake at night. Well you are not alone. If you have decided to fight "alone" for your marriage then I am here to tell you that you are not alone. God has got your back and He wants to put your marriage back together again. If you believe in miracles than you are at the right place.
In this group we will look at God's plan for marriage and how we can apply those plans to our lives whether our spouse is participating or not. In this group we will allow God to take us deeper in Him so we can be the best "us" possible.
Our goal is to put our marriages fully in God's hands and trust His plan for our lives.
God does not want us sitting around sad and depressed. In this group we will have fun. We will plan great events. Bible Study, Dinning, Theatre, Movies, Line Dancing,.....etc.
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5
For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
